fanabana @ 9:39pm: Interesting phone conversation with my father this evening. He's still bleating on about me giving him a grandchild and today his argument for my reproducing was that I could call it Siegfried haha! I had decided that I was going to call it Rupert actually but only because some of my friends felt calling a child Siegfried would be tantamount to child abuse (they didn't like Rupert much better lol).

fanabana @ 10:35am: I think I'm going to have to start going to bed at nine o'clock at night until spring. I'm constantly tired during winter and find it impossible to get up in the mornings! I had a lay in today and I'm still knackered. I think it's lack of sunlight. I leave for work and it's dark, I come home and it's dark and all the day in between I'm at work. Fair enough I sit next to the window but it's not the same. I want some sunshine!

I might go to Borders this weekend. Here in the UK they've gone into administration which is sad because it's my favourite book shop. It's the only one that has all the unfashionable writers I happen to love out on the shelves!

My current read is A Prayer For Owen Meany which I bought at least five years ago and never found the time to pick up. I'd bought it because it was on the BBC Big Read's top 100 but I must admit it's never really appealed to me because I'm not a great reader of American fiction (I mean literary fiction set in America, I still read plenty of genre fiction by American's!). I'm not disparaging it, in fact I read loads of American fiction previously but in the last ten years or so I've gone off the style. I'm about a quarter of the way through though and it's good so far. I'd definitely read more Irving.

Also I have cleared out my to be read list. It's getting so low now that I was looking through the books and thinking that a few of them I really couldn't be arsed with- mostly ones that had come with box sets of books that I'd bought because I wanted two or three in the set. I was brutal and managed to select seven I was never likely to read. I'm going to take them to the charity shop later on this morning.

That means there's only twenty seven left yay! It will shoot up after Christmas of course but that's alright. I want to get it so I've never got any more than five on the shelf unread at any one time- a managable amount!

I seriously have no clue where this year went. Honestly. It just ... I remember times when it felt like it was dragging, but now that we're at December 1st, it feels like it just flew by.

Step One
-- Make a post (public, friendslocked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a________ icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.

-- If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you. Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ, or link to this post (it'll be public) so that the holiday joy will spread.

Step Two
-- Surf around your friendslist (or friendsfriends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:

-- If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it. You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy.

Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call. There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.

hai_di @ 6:10pm: Some updates (Con, John Barrowman & Alex)
First RingCon guests have been announced. Dylan Neal und Daniel Falconer von WETA :D But well, still a long time to go *g* http://www.ringcon.de/pages_en/rc_10/guests.php

John Barrowman confirmed that he has signed a contract for a fourth season of Torchwood. Probably with 13 episodes: http://www.serienjunkies.de/news/torchwood-barrowman-24149.html

Not much of a surprise but not it’s official – Alex new show Three Rivers has been cancelled: http://www.serienjunkies.de/news/three-rivers-24145.html Hopefully they will still air the last 5 episodes. To be honest it really wasn’t the best show, but I’m sad for Alex! He already wrote a touching message on his myspace: Read more... )

fanabana @ 7:30pm: Tom and I went to Bath Christmas market today with some of the people from work and their partners. I think they thought Tom was very quiet though he was laughing a lot but afterwards he told me it was at them rather than with them. *Eye roll* Like he talks any less bollocks than they do!

We didn't stay with them whilst we were there though and went off for a nice pub lunch, a trip around the Roman Baths which were absolutely jam packed, and a look around the shops. I got some yummy chutneys at the market NOM.
