fanabana @ 5:30pm: I am having such a fat bitch moment. I just got home from Marks & Spencer's with two boxes of chocolates, two boxes of Jaffa Cakes and two slices of Belgian chocolate cheesecake. They will all be gone before the middle of next week no doubt!

This is what I get for going to the shops when I've barely eaten all day. :P

Tonight I'm going to finish Stalking Darkness. I've only got about a hundred pages left to go on it and it's getting so exciting! ( Possible spoilers and much love for my boyfriend Seregil. )

I've hardly read any all week because I had a three day headache which I only seemed to notice when I was reading. Must have strained my eyes or something. Anyway, I feel better now so I'm going to finish it tonight and then tomorrow read another Doctor Who book and then Dancing With Eva and maybe The Light Fantastic before I start on Traitors Moon next week!

Hatte bislang in meiner Abteilung sehr erfolgreich den Rekord der längsten Zeit ohne Krankheitstag gehalten. Meine ja wirklich, die letzten 1 ½ Jahre wäre da nix gewesen. Aber heute hab ich dann doch geschwächelt. Ging in Kanada mit Halsschmerzen los, hier kam dann Heiserkeit dazu, aber auch das ließ sich ja noch ganz gut verkraften, aber jetzt plagt mich ein sowas von fieser heftiger Husten – konnte die Nacht kaum schlafen. I had such a fright tonight. I lost my engagement ring! Tom came home to find me turning the place upside down, crying my eyes out. Eventually he found it- right near where I thought I'd left it on the arm of the sofa. Doh! I didn't even get any sympathy from him, he gave me a right telling off which upset me even more. He's been sweet since but I still think it was a bit off of him.

It's not the first time I've misplaced it and I really should be more careful I suppose. What's funny is as I was coming home from work I noticed one of my pin badges had fallen off my handbag and I was really gutted. It was a little tram one I got in Melbourne and I was so disappointed I'd lost it. Losing my ring put that into perspective!

In fangirl news, David Tennant is on Derren Brown tonight! It looks like he's going to do some mental time travelling thing on him. What else would you do to the Doctor?!

I was thinking today about what it is I love about Doctor Who and I think I've put my finger on it. I remember seeing a Doctor Who Confidential, can't remember which one, were RTD said that Doctor Who's version of the future has a knackered British feel to it and that really struck a chord with me.

I'm not a patriot or anything- I think it's pretty obvious I'd rather live in Australia than live here- but London is the second best place to live I think, so it's not so bad. That said, I never cheer for England in any sports, I'm continually horrified by most of our politics and I think a fair proportion of my fellow citizens are pig shit ignorant, xenophobic little island dwellers.

But whilst I'm often annoyed by my mother country there are some things I love that to me just seem to sum up our culture perfectly: Doctor Who. Cups of milky tea. Marmite. BBC Radio Four(Though not so much since they stopped airing Home Truths). The Proms. Stephen Fry. Chicken Tikka Masala. They're all great.

I'm sure every Briton has something about the country they love even if it includes none of the above, and in the same vein everyone in the world has a soft spot for particular bits of their own culture. I suppose I just think Doctor Who is a very good definition of my own cultural identity.

I thought I'd tell you all about the Waiting On a Cure website/project that my friend civil_to_all is responsible for. It's a Diabetes awareness website.

Pretty much every female on my mom's side has Diabetes. Of my Grams and the 6 children she had, she and 4 of those kids have some type of Diabetes. My sister's brother has Diabetes. Of the individuals I know with Diabetes, I know several who have to take insulin injections. And of course, my friend Marilyn passed away from Diabetic complications a few years back.



Needless to say, Diabetes is an issue that is quite close to my heart. I imagine I probably have it and just don't know it and if I don't have it yet, I'm sure it's in my future :\

ANYWAYS, Waiting On a Cure is a way for me to try and become more involved, become more educated, and stay abreast of any developments towards finding a cure.

PS I've finally gotten all caught up on the season finales from tonight, and alls I can say is that besides MY NAME IS EARL which pretty much ALWAYS leaves me feeling good cuz it's a show about how people CAN change and about hope ... it's been a very unsatisfying night. fanabana @ 6:49pm: I'm really annoyed at my work. They're having a flashy refit at the moment and everyone's being passed from pillar to post as they do their sections up. That hasn't bothered me, however my floor will be finished tomorrow and I'll be moving back to my usual space on Monday with a whole bunch of knew rules and an awful layout.

The new desks are smaller than our current ones and have a divider between them, presumably to stop us chatting so much. We are to have no personal items at the desks and they have removed our drawers to enforce this, replacing them with lockers. We have to get everything we need out in the morning and put it back in the locker at night- including the laptops we are getting to replace our computers. I give it one week before someone drops and breaks one when they're carrying it to the desk and back.

We are getting laptops so we can hotdesk but even if you ignore the fact that it is time consuming to reconnect the laptop and log in from scratch each day to all the programs we use, and the fact that no one will have their own extension numbers on the phone's if we hotdesk so getting hold of anyone will be a nightmare, it's not a particularly staff friendly thing to do. The way I see it, I should have my own space at my job and if I'm to work my hardest I ought to be as comfortable as possible and do what I want to it, within reason(all I have a the moment is a Doctor Who sticker on my monitor, not mountains of crap). Now I won't even have my own desk! Way to make everyone feel like a bunch of temps.

We also can't eat at our desks anymore for hygiene reasons, seeing as we'll all be hotdesking. I eat lunch at my desk almost everyday because I like to read at the same time. I will not be going down to the canteen to eat there everyday! We can't even have a snack or sweets or anything like that at our desks.

Everyone is extremely fucked off about it all, myself included. They've spent a lot of money making a sleek, modern office and I understand they want to keep it nice but not at the expense of the staffs happiness, surely.

To add insult to injury we were told off about the things we chat about as well. There is to be no more talk about Captain Jack and the Doctor shagging each other! I laughed my head off when I heard that. And by the way, I didn't start that particular conversation but I joined in wholeheartedly with it.

I just hope this turns out to be like everything else they put in place- forgotten about within three weeks.

fanabana @ 11:43am: Day off today! Yay! My lovely boss gave me it off at short notice.

I'm going to go to the gym in a bit and I've done some writing today so it has been quite productive. I haven't been to the gym for ages and I need to get back in to the habit. Since I took up my new position in February I've been finding it hard as sometimes I don't finish work until six o'clock where as before that's the time I'd be leaving the gym to come home!

But as I am brimful of good intentions I've decided to start going in the mornings when I'm on late shift, before I get into work. That's the plan anyway, but it's been the plan for weeks and as yet I haven't made it out of bed early enough to go!

It's just getting into a routine thats the hard part, once that's done it's easy. Tomorrow I am going to force myself up and out of bed early enough! I imagine it'll be packed in there early in the morning but I shall see how it goes.

I need to get some passport forms today as well. Mine ran out last September and I haven't got myself a new one yet. I'd like to go somewhere towards the end of the summer so I better apply for one soon!

fanabana @ 8:23pm: I got my OU marks back today. My final TMA was 82% - it's a high 2.1 basically. I needed three more points to get a distinction/first. I got 83% on the first TMA but that's only worth 30% of the grade so I'll finish with 82% over all.

I'm not going to lie, I'm disappointed. I'm not mad at my tutor or anything like that, I think his comments were fair. I could have done better/tried harder but I didn't and it's done now. Oh well!

Anyhoo, now that's done and dusted I'm going to actually be signing up for Open Mathematics at the end of the month when I get paid. There's a few other little ten pointers catching my eye in between now and September. I'm tempted by Making Sense of the Arts but only for the art history bit, the rest sounds like stuff I did when I was at uni. The closing date to enroll is next week so I need to make my mind up quick!

I started Stalking Darkness last night and I'm about a third of the way through. It is so good! I am officially head over heels in love with Seregil. I do want to shake him a bit though, then pounce on him afterwards and kiss him all over better.

So, die Fans haben sich heute trotz etwas Entschuldigung von Krupp mal dezent ausgeschwiegen. Von den Kanadiern kommt ja echt nur was bei nem Tor oder ner Einblendung vom Videowuerfel. Tztztz. Das Spiel ging dann auch voll in die Hose. 10:1 haben sie verloren. Gaaaaanz vereinzelt wurde mal was gesungen. Der passendste Text war: Schade Uwe, der Flieger war schon voll...

Immerhin hat sich die Mannschaft trotz des Schweigens diesmal ausgiebig bei den Fans bedankt. Das war zumindest ein klares Statement pro Fans. Fand ich sehr anstaendig! Ich hoffe mal, beim naechsten Spiel gegen Lettland wird nochmal ordentlich angefeuert und gefeiert!

Jetzt kommt gleich unser Taxi zum Flughafen. Man wird schon ganz schoen wehmuetig hier wegzumuessen. Schniiief. See you soon with lots of pictures and clips!

Oh, and next Saturday marks the day that I have been a massive Eric fangirl for four years. That is a long time! Normally I like stuff for six months then drop it and move on to the next big thing but in this instance I have been a devoted fangirl, even through such recent trials as baldness and stupidity! I admit this is mostly because he has the worlds greatest accent and a fabulous pair of tits- things which I am a complete sucker for.

I've got nothing planned for the weekend other than a trip to the and gym and maybe a bit of writing. I've had writers block for the last four days, then managed a couple hundred words last night.

I've read up to the sorting on Philosopher's Stone. I like it so far, Ron's cute and I feel sorry for Harry. I love Fred and George too. The Weasley's are the best family!

Tzzzzz, hier passieren wieder Sachen. Der Start war supergrottig. Wir haben in den ersten 3 Minuten 3 Tore kassiert!!!!! Da haben wir dann doch erstmal etwas doof aus der Waesche geguckt und waren etwas sickig, aber wir haben uns dann doch recht schnell wieder berappelt und nach ner Auszeit sind die Spieler dann auch anders aufgetreten und sie wurden besser und besser. Die Kanadier haben sich schoen mit uns mitgefreut, wenn wir Tore gemacht haben und es wurde noch ein richtig gutes Spiel. Am Schluss waren alle voll dabei, haben bei Strafen gepfiffen, ansonsten lautstark angefeuert, haben sogar das mit der Welle wieder hinbekommen, was hierzulande echt gar nicht so einfach ist. Tzzzz, das ist aber auch ein traeges Sitzplatzpublikum hier *kopfschuettel*

Aaaaaaber - es gab dann doch noch einen "Skandal" am Rande. Wir haben hier ein paar ganz aktive Fans. Beim letzten Spiel haben sie Uuunmengen schwarz-rot-gelber Ballons aufgetrieben und dekoriert. Diesmal haben sie (fuer 150 Dollar!!!) schwarz-rot-gelbe Pappen besorgt. Zunaechst haben wir die farbige Seite hochgehalten, dann die mit Text. Auf schwarz stand "Auf dem Eis Profis", auf rot "Oben Amateure" und auf gelb "Reindl raus" - der Praesident, der das mit den Spieler so verbockt hat und fuer das Theater mit den Spielern Busch und Holland verantwortlich war. Haben das zum Spielbeginn und zu Beginn des letzten Drittels hochgehalten. Wir waren hier echt angefressen, es gab keine offizielle Erklaerung oder Entschuldigung fuer das Theater und so.

Und 2 Minuten vorher haben wir noch, nachdem es ja doch ne Niederlage wurde, lautstark!!! "You never walk alone" und "Wir sind stolz auf unser Team" gesungen. Sauerei!!! Angeblich weil sie hinter Reindl stehen und damit die Fans "abstrafen" wollten. Whatever!! Wir regen uns hier voll auf. Mal sehen, ob wir uns beim naechsten Spiel die ersten 5 Minuten mal komplett ausschweigen *schmoll*

To keep me amused I thought I'd watch those eps of All Saints with Eric Bana in because I remembered it being hilarious last time I watched it. The acting is so excruciatingly bad (Eric's not the regular casts!) and its supposed to be very serious!

But it's not as funny without Tom here taking the piss. :(

I finished reading Digital Fortress today. Separately, two men who I work with told me it was one of the best books they'd ever read. I thought it was alright but not that good. It was a standard thriller, formulaic but enjoyable precisely because of that.

I've read everything I wanted to read before Stalking Darkness but in half the time I thought it would take so I'm going to sneak in Philosopher's Stone in as well before I start it.

Momentan ist es gerade ziemlich schwierig mit PC-Zeit. Freue mich ueber alle comments! You rock!! :-) Hier ist gerade eher schlechte Stimmung und ich bin auch noch etwas angeschlagen. Gestern gab es voll das Hickhack, ob uns die Punkte gegen die Slowaken aberkannt werden, weil unser Jason Holland nicht spielberechtigt ist. Wie bloed kann man eigentlich sein, das vorher nicht anstaendig zu pruefen. Von daher wussten wir bis heute nicht, ob wir auf Platz 3 oder 4 sind. Jetzt aber wohl doch 3, wir nehmen aber keine Punkte mit in die Zwischenrunde und gegen die USA und Kanada duerften wir wohl nicht viel reissen.
Was verlieren unsere Jungs auch gegen Norwegen. Unfassbar. Der Schiri hat aber auch verdammt viele und teils auch wirklich fragwuerdige Strafen gegeben, aber eine 2:0 Fuehrung noch zu verspielen war echt aergerlich. Von daher war die Stimmung nicht sonderlich gestern :-\
Lustig war allerdings, dass gestern noch ein paar an der Halle warteten, weil da angeblich die deutschen Spieler rauskaemen. War aber wohl ne falsche Info. Die einzigen, die da rauskamen, waren die Norweger. Der letzte war unser Hai Mats Trygg. Der ist schon 2 Spiele hintereinander Most Valuable Player geworden. Da ich ein Haie-Trikot anhatte, kam er gleich rueber und begruesste uns per Handschlag. Hab ihm gratuliert und ein bisschen gequatscht. Marco Sturm und die Berliner sind mir trotzdem noch nicht ins Netz gegangen. Unser Keeper Robert Mueller hat uns immerhin nett zugewunken, als er heute an uns vorbeilief. Das ist echt n' Lieber!!
Soweit die News aus Halifax. Heute abend spielen gegen wir die USA. Da druecken uns die Kanadier natuerlich alle die Daumen. Oh well, beim Kanada-US-Boys-Spiel waren die echt gut!

I think the more relevant statement here is that the times when I really REALLY NEEDED an apology, I never got one. If people at least TRY to apologize for wronging me, it MEANS something. But there are a few times in recent memory where I never got the closure I needed because they didn't even bothering TRYING to make amends -_- Even though I KNOW better, I often wonder if I'm going to be waiting for those apologies for the rest of my life. Speaking of awkward...Mariah Carey & Nick Cannon are married. It's confirmed it's NOT an Ashton Kutcher stunt (that's my go-to explanation for sh*t that seems way too ridiculous to be true), it's actually real.

But be honest...could these photos BE more awkward?

The wedding pic and the one in the bottom corner look like posing/acting for one of her music videos to me :\ I hate to judge love, but ... I didn't even know they were dating!

Not only did Carey and Cannon take the plunge, they even marked the occasion with permanent ink. "We got tattoos," Carey told People. "His is on one shoulder to the other and it says 'Mariah.' [Mine is] on my lower back and it says 'Mrs. Cannon."
OOPS. Tattoos like that are the kiss of death for relationships! Someone shoulda told her.

Anyways, in case there are a7x fans who lurk, I ripped the guys introducing their MTV Hitlist and posted it up for members of conmen_media. CRRRRRRRRRAPPY rip but it's something, which is often better than nothing.

TYSM to sarcastic_sage for sending me the new Gavin album which I WILL buy as soon as I can. He's brill, puts on a great show, and is the only musician I've seen from the front row :] I even got to touch his fingertips that night, hee.

I like a bit of inane chatter (my lj is full of it hahahaha) to pass the day as much as the next person but not all day everyday, day in day out, with no end in sight. Tomorrow I might just tell her to shut up and have done with it.

The person in question knows they piss me off because most of the time I just ignore her when we're not talking about work but today she were making a fuss about me when she thought I wasn't there to hear it. I snapped at her and then afterwards there was whispering going on and to be honest I welcomed that because at least it was almost peace and quiet!

I don't even dislike this woman. I actually think she's an alright person most of the time but she can't keep her mouth shut for five minutes. It seems every mundane thought that comes into her head has to be voiced.

But every office has got one of those haven't they so I'm not alone in my suffering I am sure!

And talking of work, the women in my department are going to organise a big trip to see the new Harry Potter movie when it comes out later this year. I'd like to go but what I know about Harry Potter could be written on the back of a postage stamp so I'm going to read the books first. I got myself Philosopher's Stone today and will have a read of it sometime in the next few weeks.

I've never really had the urge to read it before but I want to be in the JKR fan club with everyone else.

Autobiographies make me laugh so much. Between the bodily functions there was plenty of name dropping and what have you. At one point he called himself a hero hahahaha! But I suppose he kind of is, so I can forgive. Besides you're allowed to do that sort of thing in biographies, particularly if you are that fabulous. Anywhere else and he'd be a wanker obviously hahahaha.

Hier in Halifax spielen sich gerade unglaubliche Szenen ab!! Ich glaube, das war vorhin die 1. Welle, die diese Eishalle je gesehen hat *g* Nach dem Unentschieden von Norwegen fing ich ja schon ernsthaft an, mir Sorgen zu machen, aber dann hat die deutsche Mannschaft sooooo toll gespielt - einfach genial!! Und "unser" Haie-Torwart Robert Mueller hat diesmal im Tor gestanden und wirklich super gehalten! Sturm hat sein 1. Tor gemacht und ueberhaupt ne tolle Mannschaftsleistung! Die Stimmung war wieder grossartig und mit steigender Torezahl natuerlich immer besser. Erst 2:0 Fuehrung, Endstand spaeter dann 4:2! Haben zwischenzeitlich schon "Macht sie alle, schiesst sie aus der Halle" gesungen *g* Manchmal kam man sich vor, wie im Zoo. Wir haben Party gemacht und gesungen und die Kanadier immer fassungslos zu uns rueber geschaut. In den Pausen kamen schon einige rueber, um Fotos zu machen oder zu sagen, wie toll sie das mit der Welle fanden. Am Ende haben wir dann diverse Kanadier getroffen, die wirklich totaaaaaal begeistert waren, "the best hockey game we've ever been to" haben wir in der Tat mehrfach gehoert. Die eine Kanadierin hat sich ein Loch in den Bauch gefreut, dass sie einen Deutschlandschal bekommen hat. 2 aeltere Herren haben uns im Gang in den Arm genommen und sprudelten ueber, sie waeren sooo stolz heute dabeigewesen zu sein und haben uns die Lieder vorgesungen (sehr lustige Variationen der Originale), die sie schon koennen - wie gesagt - unglaubliche Szenen!! Beim rausgehen wurde man von den Ordnern abgeklatscht -einfach grossartig!! :-)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

Ooooooooh, wie ist das schooooooen!!!!!!!

I'm not going to read Stalking Darkness for a week or so because I want to read one of my Doctor Who books and John Barrowman's autobiography next. Following the example of abrokenstarr I'm going to have a go at reading two books at once! Sounds easy I know but my brain is only so useful and I'm afraid I'll get confused. I'll read JB's book at home as that's a hardback and after Doctor Who, something else at work, probably Digital Fortress by Dan Brown. I think those should be different enough that I don't get confused between them!

Has anyone here read JB's book? I hope it has loads of scandalous sex in it! Tom bought me Russell Brand's autobiography for Christmas and that was pretty much shagging from start to finish hahaha. I love Russell Brand, beautiful dandified Essex boy that he is.
